Government Launches ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2025’ on World Water Day

On World Water Day 2025, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and the Haryana Government, launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain – 2025 in Panchkula, Haryana. This marks the campaign’s first launch outside Delhi, emphasizing its nationwide reach.
Key Highlights of the Initiative:
- Focus on community-led water conservation across 148 priority districts.
- Introduction of “Jal-Jangal-Jan: Ek Prakritik Bandhan” campaign to strengthen the connection between water, forests, and people.
- Promotion of rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and efficient water management practices.
- Special emphasis on traditional knowledge and modern technology for sustainable water use.
Several important projects were inaugurated under this initiative, including rainwater harvesting systems, borewell recharge programs, and micro-irrigation projects. Additionally, under the Swachh Bharat Mission–Grameen (SBM-G), community sanitary complexes and waste management systems were introduced.
Haryana also launched the Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana, a Water Resources Atlas, and an Online Canal Water Management System to enhance irrigation efficiency.
The campaign aims to make water conservation a people’s movement, ensuring a secure and sustainable water future for India.
