European Leaders Unite in Brussels for Informal Dialogue on Migration Solutions

In a significant informal gathering in Brussels, European leaders came together to discuss forward-looking strategies for migration governance. Spearheaded by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the meeting also included Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof as key organizers.
This high-level session drew participation from a wide array of European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic, along with representatives from the European Commission. Their collective goal: to explore innovative, cooperative approaches to managing migration and enhancing mechanisms for the return of irregular migrants.
The discussions reflected satisfaction with the momentum gained by this coalition of like-minded nations. Building on a joint letter dated May 22nd—focused on evaluating international conventions and their relevance to migration challenges—leaders identified fresh directions for collaboration and reform.
Prime Minister Meloni took the opportunity to thank European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and her team for their active involvement and pragmatic support in addressing migration concerns. The leaders emphasized the need to continue working closely, especially in view of future European summits where migration is expected to remain a key topic.
This initiative reflects a shared European commitment to tackling migration through solidarity, legal clarity, and innovative policies—signaling a collective intent to move from debate to action.
