Paris, July 2025 – French President Emmanuel Macron has delivered a powerful condemnation of the recent Israeli strike that damaged the Holy Family Church in Gaza, intensifying global appeals for a ceasefire and greater humanitarian protections in the war-torn region.

Following a direct conversation with Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, President Macron voiced serious alarm over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, particularly for Christian communities and other civilians caught in the crossfire.

Expressing unwavering support for the victims and their families, Macron extended solidarity to Christians across Palestine — from Gaza to Taybeh — who are currently enduring immense hardships and threats to their lives. He described the ongoing situation as unbearable, stating that “Palestinian civilians and hostages are experiencing unimaginable suffering.”

The French leader did not mince words when addressing the human toll of the conflict. “Every single day, dozens of Palestinian lives are lost in Gaza. This continued warfare cannot be justified,” he asserted. Macron called for an immediate and conclusive ceasefire, underscoring the moral and legal imperative to halt the bloodshed.

He also drew attention to the dire humanitarian crisis in the area, sharply criticizing the restrictions placed on aid entering Gaza. “Blocking humanitarian assistance is not only unacceptable — it stands in direct violation of international humanitarian norms,” he stated.

Macron’s remarks echo a rising international consensus that civilian safety and international law must take precedence. His call to release hostages and shield all non-combatants from further harm adds to mounting global pressure for an end to the violence and a renewed commitment to peace and humanitarian relief in the region.
