President Emmanuel Macron Reaffirms France’s Commitment to Ukraine During Brussels Meeting with Zelenskyy

Brussels, October 2025 — French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed France’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and its pursuit of a just and lasting peace, during a high-level meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Brussels.
Standing alongside Zelenskyy, President Macron emphasized that France, in coordination with its European allies and the United States, remains fully engaged in supporting Ukraine’s resistance against Russia’s continued aggression. “Together with our European partners and in close coordination with the United States, France continues to support Ukraine to find the path to a just and lasting peace,” Macron stated.
The meeting took place amid growing international concern over Russia’s refusal to implement an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. Macron condemned Moscow’s ongoing military operations and reiterated France’s position that peace cannot be achieved through coercion or occupation. “As Russia persists in opposing an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, we are determined to increase pressure on Moscow,” he declared.
The French President also welcomed the latest wave of sanctions imposed on Russia by both the United States and the European Union. The newly adopted measures are designed to restrict Russia’s access to critical technologies, financial markets, and energy exports—moves aimed at tightening the economic constraints on the Kremlin and curbing its war capabilities.
“These sanctions reflect the unity of the transatlantic alliance and Europe’s resolve to hold Russia accountable for its actions,” Macron said, noting that France will continue to work with its allies to ensure these measures have maximum impact.
President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for France’s steadfast diplomatic and military support, acknowledging Paris’s contributions in humanitarian aid, defense equipment, and European diplomatic coordination. The Brussels meeting underscored the shared objective among Western partners to secure a peace that respects Ukraine’s territorial integrity and international law.
As discussions concluded, Macron reaffirmed his vision of a peace built on justice, not surrender. “Peace must prevail,” he said firmly, highlighting France’s continued role in balancing diplomatic pressure with humanitarian and military support to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty and rebuild its future.
The Brussels gathering served as yet another reminder that Europe stands united in its commitment to Ukraine—against aggression, for peace, and for the defense of international order.
