President Zelenskyy Hails Ukrainian Resilience and Progress Toward EU Membership Amid Renewed Russian Setbacks

In a resolute address to the nation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Russian army has once again failed to meet its own deadlines for capturing the strategically important cities of Pokrovsk and Dobropillia. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that every Russian defeat strengthens Ukraine’s defense, unity, and pursuit of independence.
“The Russian army has once again been forced to push back the deadlines it had drawn up for itself for capturing Pokrovsk and Dobropillia,” Zelenskyy said. “Every Russian loss contributes to our ability to defend our state, our people, and our independence.”
Zelenskyy’s remarks came as Ukraine continues to demonstrate resilience on the battlefield while simultaneously advancing its historic bid for European Union membership. He highlighted the symbolic timing of the European Commission’s latest report, which he described as the most positive evaluation Ukraine has received in the past three years.
“This gives Ukrainians even more motivation,” the President noted. “Europe recognizes our joint efforts. Ukraine is doing everything to gain EU membership — even in wartime, even amid the toughest battles.”
Despite the ongoing full-scale invasion by Russia, Ukraine has pressed ahead with implementing reforms, meeting accession requirements, and aligning its institutions with European standards. Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine’s determination to join the EU while fighting for its survival is “absolutely unprecedented across Europe.”
“Every other EU member state has followed a much easier path,” he added, underscoring Ukraine’s extraordinary commitment to democratic values and European integration even under extreme conditions.
The President urged the European Union to match Ukraine’s determination with concrete action, calling on Brussels to honor its promises and move forward with the next phase of the accession process. “It is crucial that our results are met with proper support in Europe — that the EU fulfills its commitments,” Zelenskyy said. “Ukraine is ready to open the clusters, and we need a European decision on this.”
Expressing gratitude to Ukraine’s international partners and allies, Zelenskyy thanked everyone who continues to assist the country in its struggle for freedom, sovereignty, and European identity.
“I thank everyone who is helping,” he said. “I am proud of our people, proud of every single one of our warriors.”
Zelenskyy’s address once again highlighted the dual front on which Ukraine is fighting — resisting Russian aggression while building a democratic, European future. As Ukraine defends its territory and values, it continues to prove that its place is in Europe, not only as a partner but as a fully-fledged member of the European Union.
With determination in his voice, Zelenskyy reaffirmed that Ukraine’s courage and persistence will ultimately define its path — both on the battlefield and at the European negotiating table.
