“DACIAN FALL 25” Military Exercise Concludes at Cincu Base, Strengthening NATO’s Eastern Deterrence

Cincu, Romania – The large-scale military exercise “DACIAN FALL 25” concluded today at the Cincu military base, marking a significant milestone for Romania’s security and the broader Euro-Atlantic region.
Held from October 20 to November 13, 2025, the exercise involved over 5,000 troops from Romania and nine NATO allied nations, including Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, and Spain.
The operation underscores the ongoing commitment of both national and allied forces, across political, diplomatic, and military dimensions, initiated immediately after Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine in February 2022. This collaborative effort aims to bolster NATO’s deterrence and defense posture in the Black Sea region and on the Eastern Flank, where the Alliance faces a direct military threat for the first time since World War II.
A key objective of the exercise was to assess the progress of elevating the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group from battalion to brigade level. Additionally, the exercise tested the Alliance’s ability to rapidly project forces to the Eastern Flank, including moving troops and military equipment from France to Romania.
“The exercise has demonstrated the critical role of military mobility in ensuring collective deterrence and defense,” said Nicușor Dan. “It confirmed NATO’s ability to respond quickly and effectively wherever necessary on allied territory.”
The event also highlighted the shared democratic values and common security interests among NATO members. Close political and military cooperation strengthens individual member states and reinforces collective solidarity, ensuring a stable security environment vital for the growth and development of democratic societies.
Nicușor Dan extended gratitude to all allied participants and to NATO personnel stationed in Romania, emphasizing that such coordinated efforts enhance both national and regional security within the world’s strongest military alliance.
