Noida Police Bust Overseas Job Scam, Two Arrested in ₹70 Lakh Fraud Case

In a major crackdown on cyber-enabled employment fraud, the Noida Police has arrested two individuals accused of orchestrating a large-scale scam that targeted job seekers aspiring to work abroad. The accused allegedly lured victims through social media platforms with promises of lucrative overseas employment opportunities and defrauded them of lakhs of rupees.
Modus Operandi: Fake Dreams, Real Losses
According to officials, the suspects designed eye-catching job advertisements in the names of reputed foreign companies. These advertisements were strategically circulated in online groups and forums where registered Indian manpower agencies, overseas job consultancies, and employment-related communities are active.
Once potential candidates expressed interest, the accused would initiate conversations through WhatsApp calls. They then sent forged documents, including fabricated offer letters, fake visas, and counterfeit airline ticket printouts, to build credibility. Under the pretext of processing fees, visa charges, medical examinations, embassy approvals, ticket confirmations, and other formalities, they extracted money from victims.
Seized Items and Financial Trail
During the operation, police recovered nine Indian passports, seven fake job pamphlets, seven airline tickets, and ₹73,500 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime. Investigators estimate that the accused have cheated more than 100 individuals so far, amassing over ₹70 lakh through fraudulent activities.
Authorities are now examining digital evidence and financial records to trace the full extent of the network and identify additional victims or accomplices.
Rising Concern Over Overseas Job Scams
With increasing aspirations among Indian youth to seek employment abroad, cybercriminals are exploiting digital platforms to target vulnerable job seekers. Law enforcement agencies have urged citizens to verify the authenticity of overseas job offers through official government portals and registered recruitment agencies before making any payments.
The swift action by the Noida Police underscores the state’s continued commitment under the campaign #UPPAgainstCrime to combat organized fraud and protect citizens from financial exploitation.
Officials have advised the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious job offers immediately to local authorities or cybercrime helplines.
