Hurricane Milton made a devastating landfall in Florida, initially as a Category 5 storm, bringing widespread chaos and destruction. More than two million homes and businesses are without power as the storm unleashed powerful winds, tornadoes, and life-threatening storm surges across the state.

Though downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, Milton continues to cause havoc, with severe flooding and numerous fatalities reported along the Atlantic coast. In St. Petersburg, the roof of a Major League Baseball stadium was torn off, underscoring the storm’s intensity.

Milton’s arrival comes just two weeks after Hurricane Helene, which claimed over 225 lives across Florida and neighboring states. As emergency crews work to restore power and conduct rescue operations, the region faces yet another monumental recovery effort.
