Three people were injured in a shooting in downtown Las Vegas during the city’s First Friday arts and culture festival, prompting a police investigation and a temporary security response in the area.

The shooting was reported late Friday night in the Arts District near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Main Street. Police officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire at approximately 10:17 p.m.

Three victims were transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities had not immediately released detailed information about the nature or severity of their injuries.

The incident occurred while the monthly First Friday event was taking place in the downtown area. The festival regularly attracts residents and visitors to the Arts District for cultural activities, exhibitions and community events.

Police secured the area following the shooting and began investigating what led to the violence. Investigators were working to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.

Authorities had not immediately announced an arrest or released a detailed description of a suspect. Investigators are expected to review available evidence and speak with witnesses who may have been present when the shooting occurred.

The incident caused concern among people attending or living near the busy downtown area, particularly because the shooting happened during a public community event.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to cooperate with investigators. Officials are continuing to gather evidence as the investigation develops.

The shooting adds another serious incident to the recent crime investigations being handled by Las Vegas police, although authorities have not indicated any broader threat connected with the festival.

Further details are expected as investigators determine the sequence of events and the circumstances that led to the shooting.
