Regional Training Workshop held in Ahmedabad for the 21st Livestock Census

On the 21st Livestock Census software and breeds for state and district nodal officers from Gujarat and Rajasthan, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) set up a regional training workshop The seminar sought to provide officials with the tools they would need to carry out the forthcoming census, set for September–December 2024.

Emphasising the crucial part the livestock industry plays in India’s economy and food security, Gujarat’s Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Raghavjibhai Patel, opened the workshop. He underlined the need of proper data collecting for further projects and tackling industry problems.

The program included thorough instruction on the just introduced mobile and web tools for the cattle count. Officers received instruction in software use, data collecting techniques, and breed identification. The DAHD’s software team offered thorough seminars on the dashboard and mobile apps.

The occasion underlined the shared obligation of the interested parties to guarantee the success of the 21st Livestock Count. It underlined the department’s will to make effective and accurate data collecting using technology.

Important lessons learnt at the workshop consist in:

Producing accurate statistics for many cattle industry initiatives and the National Indicator Framework (NIF) of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) depends on accurate breed identification.
