Despite the chilly weather and thick fog enveloping Prayagraj, thousands of devotees braved the conditions to gather at Triveni Sangam on Tuesday, eager to participate in the ongoing Mahakumbh. According to data from the Uttar Pradesh government, over 1.597 million people took a dip at the holy confluence on the ninth day of the religious festival.

As of January 20, more than 88.1 million devotees have already partaken in the sacred ritual at Triveni Sangam, where the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati merge. The event, held once every 12 years, draws millions from across the country and beyond, each seeking spiritual blessings and purification.

Tuesday morning saw Prayagraj shrouded in a dense layer of fog, with inclement weather affecting visibility and daily life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted the minimum temperature to hover around 11 degrees Celsius, with the morning expected to remain foggy before clearing in the afternoon.

Despite the visibility challenges, flight operations at Prayagraj Airport remained unaffected, as thousands of pilgrims gathered at the ghats of Triveni Sangam to perform the sacred dip. The Triveni Sangam, a revered confluence of three holy rivers, serves as a spiritual focal point during the Mahakumbh. Devotees, dressed in vibrant traditional attire, performed prayers and rituals, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and spiritual enlightenment.

This massive gathering is just one part of the grand festivities, which continue to attract people from all walks of life, united by their faith and devotion. The Mahakumbh, recognized as one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, not only serves as a spiritual melting pot but also highlights the rich cultural heritage of India.
