Uttar Pradesh’s 2025-26 Budget Sees 9.8% Increase, Focus on Infrastructure and Economic Growth

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while presenting the state budget for 2025-26, announced a significant increase of 9.8% compared to the previous fiscal year. The total budget for the upcoming year stands at ₹8,08,736 crore, reflecting the state’s growing economic strength and the commitment of the double-engine government towards development.

Budget Expansion Signals Economic Growth

Addressing a press conference, CM Yogi emphasized that the increase in the budget size showcases Uttar Pradesh’s financial stability and progress. He stated, “On one hand, the growth in the budget size reflects the state’s strength, while on the other hand, it also shows the commitment of the double-engine government to accelerate development.”

The budget places a strong emphasis on infrastructure development, with key investments in roads, highways, urban projects, and industrial growth. This approach aligns with the state’s long-term vision of boosting connectivity, improving public amenities, and attracting investments.

UP Becomes India’s Second-Largest Economy

Highlighting the state’s economic progress, CM Yogi remarked that Uttar Pradesh, which previously ranked between 6th and 7th among Indian states, has now emerged as the second-largest economy in the country. This achievement underscores the impact of strategic policies and sustained government efforts in fostering industrial and economic development.

Recognition by NITI Aayog

The Chief Minister also pointed to a recent NITI Aayog report on the fiscal health of Indian states, which placed Uttar Pradesh in the “front-runner” category. Between 2018 and 2022, the state’s fiscal health index grew by 8.9%, reflecting improvements in financial management and governance.

Additionally, UP has made significant strides in reducing unemployment and generating employment opportunities. The government’s initiatives in skill development, investment promotion, and business-friendly policies have played a crucial role in job creation.

A Vision for a Developed Uttar Pradesh

With a focus on infrastructure, economic stability, and job creation, the 2025-26 budget lays the foundation for sustained growth in Uttar Pradesh. The government’s strategic approach is expected to further strengthen the state’s position as an economic powerhouse in India, driving prosperity for its citizens.
