India Slams Pakistan at UNHRC, Calls It a ‘Failed State’ Living on Charity
At the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, India strongly criticized Pakistan for its continued allegations regarding human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi, representing India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, called out Pakistan’s hypocrisy and dismissed its accusations as baseless propaganda.
India Exposes Pakistan’s Double Standards
During his speech, Tyagi stated that Pakistan has no credibility to speak on human rights, as it is a failed state that survives on foreign aid. Tyagi further emphasized that Pakistan’s leaders frequently amplify lies propagated by terrorist groups, making it clear that their claims hold no merit. He also criticized Pakistan for using the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as its personal mouthpiece, reducing the credibility of the organization. “It is unfortunate that the valuable time of this international body is being wasted by a failed state like Pakistan,” he remarked.
Pakistan’s Human Rights Abuses Ignored
India pointed out that instead of focusing on Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan should address its own serious human rights violations. The country has a long history of suppressing ethnic and religious minorities, cracking down on journalists, and failing to protect the rights of its citizens. Reports from global human rights organizations have frequently documented atrocities against Baloch, Pashtun, and Sindhi communities, as well as enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings by Pakistani security forces.
Moreover, India criticized Pakistan’s deteriorating law and order situation, where even basic freedoms are under threat. The rise in sectarian violence, state-backed persecution of dissidents, and restrictions on press freedom expose the dire human rights situation within Pakistan.
International Community Must Recognize Pakistan’s Deception
India urged the international community to recognize Pakistan’s pattern of deception. It highlighted that Pakistan’s repeated false allegations about Jammu and Kashmir are nothing but an attempt to divert global attention from its own internal failures. India reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and rejected any external interference on the matter.
