Rajnath Singh Visits Institute of Aerospace Medicine in Bengaluru, Highlights Its Role in Pilot Training and Aeromedical Research

Bengaluru: In a significant interaction with the Air Warriors of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the prestigious Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) in Bengaluru. His visit focused on understanding the institute’s vital contributions to pilot training, medical evaluation, and aeromedical research.
During the visit, Rajnath Singh was briefed about the critical role IAM plays in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of IAF pilots. The institute specializes in aeromedical studies, which are essential for maintaining the high operational standards of Indian fighter pilots. It provides advanced training to aviation doctors and conducts extensive research to enhance the health and efficiency of aircrew members.
The Defence Minister interacted with senior officials and experts at the institute, appreciating their efforts in advancing aerospace medicine in India. He observed various training modules and medical assessment techniques designed to prepare pilots for extreme flight conditions. IAM also plays a crucial role in selecting and monitoring the health of fighter pilots, ensuring that they meet the demanding physical and psychological requirements of aerial combat.
Addressing the personnel at IAM, Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of aeromedical research in enhancing India’s air defense capabilities. He acknowledged the institute’s contribution to space medicine and its collaboration with ISRO in astronaut training programs. Given India’s increasing focus on space missions, IAM’s expertise is expected to be pivotal in the upcoming Gaganyaan mission.
