On the occasion of Labour Day, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared a message of progress and commitment, reflecting on her government’s achievements in employment and economic stability. Addressing the public, Meloni emphasized that work remains a fundamental pillar of her administration’s strategy.

She noted that over the past two and a half years, more than one million new jobs have been created in Italy. This surge has led to a historic high in total employment figures, with over 24.3 million people now part of the workforce. A key highlight of her message was the record-breaking rise in female employment, which has reached its highest level in the nation’s history.

Meloni also pointed out that unemployment rates have dropped to their lowest in 18 years, signaling a steady recovery and resilience in the Italian labor market.

In her message, she underscored her government’s ongoing efforts to bolster job security, invest in training, improve oversight, and provide incentives. These actions, she said, are crucial to ensuring that progress continues in both job creation and workforce development.

While acknowledging that much work still lies ahead, Meloni expressed confidence in the country’s direction. She concluded with a message of solidarity and encouragement for all workers—those currently employed, those seeking opportunities, and those who persevere each day to contribute to Italy’s growth.
