Tel Aviv, June 28 – In a strong rebuttal to recent comments by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, the Israeli Foreign Ministry has issued a detailed statement defending its actions in Gaza and accusing the UN of bias and misinformation.

The statement, released on Saturday, emphasized that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) do not target civilians and reiterated Israel’s commitment to humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza. The Ministry pushed back against what it described as unfair criticism from the UN, highlighting the work of the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF), which has reportedly delivered over 46 million meals directly to Palestinian civilians — not to Hamas.

“Blaming Israel for the UN’s shortcomings and Hamas’s actions is a calculated move,” the statement read. It claimed the UN is actively undermining humanitarian initiatives and, in doing so, is effectively siding with Hamas, which Israel accuses of obstructing aid operations.

Israel further alleged that Hamas, not the IDF, is responsible for violence against humanitarian workers, accusing the group of attacking GHF personnel and civilians attempting to receive aid. “The IDF does not target non-combatants,” the ministry stated firmly, calling contrary claims “blatant lies.”

The Israeli government criticized the UN for its silence on Hamas’s alleged attacks on aid distribution and questioned the organization’s priorities. In a sharp concluding remark, Israel challenged the UN to choose between continuing what it termed as a flawed approach that benefits Hamas or genuinely committing to humanitarian assistance for Gaza’s civilian population.

“The UN must decide,” the Ministry declared, “whether to maintain its control over aid while empowering Hamas, or to support real efforts that bring relief to those in need.”

This exchange underscores the deepening rift between Israel and international institutions over the handling of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
