Patna, Bihar – June 28, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially commenced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, with active participation from political parties and electoral authorities. This drive aims to ensure the accuracy of the electoral rolls and verify the eligibility of every voter in alignment with Article 326 of the Indian Constitution, which grants voting rights to all Indian citizens aged 18 and above who are ordinarily residents in their respective constituencies.

As part of this revision process, the ECI has mobilized an existing force of 77,895 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and is in the process of appointing an additional 20,603 BLOs for newly established polling stations. These officers are playing a pivotal role in verifying voter details at the grassroots level.

Over one lakh volunteers have also joined the initiative, dedicated to assisting senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), the sick, the poor, and other vulnerable groups in completing their voter verification and enumeration forms.

Political involvement has been robust, with 1,54,977 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) already appointed by recognized national and state political parties, further enhancing the transparency and inclusiveness of the process.

The door-to-door distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms (EFs) for the nearly 7.89 crore registered electors in Bihar has begun across all 243 Assembly Constituencies. Additionally, online submission of these forms is fully operational. Among these voters, 4.96 crore electors who were part of the 2003 electoral roll revision need only to verify their existing details and resubmit their updated forms.

To keep citizens informed, the ECI is also sending SMS notifications to over 5.74 crore registered mobile users. District administrations are fully engaged, and all activities under SIR are progressing smoothly and on schedule.
