Donald Trump Blasts Senator Tillis, Slams White House Over Floods and Economic Policy

In a fiery online tirade, former President Donald Trump launched a direct attack on Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina, criticizing the Republican lawmaker’s positions on taxes, debt legislation, and industry policy. Trump also took the opportunity to condemn the Biden administration’s handling of recent flood disasters and the nation’s economic trajectory.
Writing on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump accused Senator Tillis of misleading the public by portraying a substantial tax cut as a tax hike. “He’s trying to convince the country they’re getting a 68% tax increase instead of one of the largest tax reductions in our history,” Trump asserted, suggesting a fundamental disagreement over Tillis’s representation of GOP tax policies.
Trump also expressed irritation over the senator’s alleged misunderstanding of a prior debt ceiling deal. He claimed Republicans supported an extension before the 2024 election to avoid a crisis, but now doubts Democrats will offer the same in return. “They won’t give back because they’re mean-spirited and anti-American,” Trump charged.
Turning to local concerns, Trump lambasted Tillis for what he described as disregard for North Carolina’s tobacco industry—a major pillar of the state’s economy. He accused the senator of being willing to abandon it “for reasons no one can explain.” Trump then pivoted to environmental policy, ridiculing Tillis’s support for “Chinese-made windmills,” claiming they destroy scenery and lead to soaring energy costs.
The former president also targeted President Biden for what he called a failure to act during severe flooding. Trump said that during his own term, his administration worked relentlessly to rebuild areas hit by disasters, earning top marks from affected communities. In contrast, he accused Biden of doing “nothing” while Americans suffered.
Reaffirming his dedication to North Carolina, Trump reminded followers of his electoral wins there and emphasized the policies he plans to push: eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security; restoring deductions for car interest; securing the border; and prioritizing agriculture and manufacturing. He called Senator Tillis’s positions a “disaster for the people of North Carolina” and warned they reflect poor judgment.
Trump’s blistering critique signals escalating tensions within the Republican ranks as he continues to redefine the party’s direction and punish those he views as disloyal.
