Macron Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Ukraine, Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

Paris, France – French President Emmanuel Macron has underscored Europe’s resolute commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and future, emphasizing the indivisible link between Ukraine’s destiny and the security, liberty, and prosperity of the entire European continent. Following a recent discussion with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Macron reiterated the unwavering resolve of France and its allies to stand with the Ukrainian people.
This steadfast determination was strongly reaffirmed last Thursday during the “Summit of the Coalition of Volunteers,” an important gathering co-chaired by President Macron and Prime Minister Starmer. The summit brought together 30 heads of state and government, and notably, for the first time, included representatives from the United States, signaling a broad and unified international front.
Collectively, the participating nations are intensifying pressure on Russia to secure an unconditional ceasefire and initiate negotiations for a solid and lasting peace. The urgency of this call was further highlighted by the European Union’s adoption of an unprecedented new package of sanctions against Russia, welcomed by President Macron. He stressed the immediate necessity for Russian attacks to cease.
In the face of adversity and with enduring hope, France continues to stand firmly alongside Ukraine, a position that will remain unchanged. This ongoing support, both diplomatic and strategic, reflects a deep-seated conviction that a stable and peaceful future for Europe is intrinsically tied to the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. The recent summit and the new sanctions underscore a unified international effort to bring about an end to hostilities and pave the way for a just and durable peace.
