Zelenskyy Reinforces Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Commitment Amid Ongoing Reforms
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated his government’s firm stance against corruption, emphasizing the urgent need for justice and accountability. In a recent meeting with top Ukrainian law enforcement and anti-corruption officials—including NABU Director Semen Kryvonos, SAPO Prosecutor Oleksandr Klymenko, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, and Vasyl Maliuk, Head of the Security Service—Zelenskyy addressed the need to strengthen Ukraine’s legal and institutional infrastructure.
At the heart of the conversation was a clear objective: ensure that Ukraine’s anti-corruption systems operate independently, without foreign—particularly Russian—influence. Zelenskyy highlighted that rooting out external manipulation is essential for establishing a fair and effective justice system, declaring that “there should be more justice.”
He underscored the critical role of key bodies such as the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). According to the President, it’s not just about institutions functioning, but about ensuring the inevitability of consequences for those who break the law. The judicial system, he asserted, must reflect the true values of a democratic Ukraine—where rule of law prevails and impunity is no longer tolerated.
One pressing concern raised by Zelenskyy involves dormant cases that have gone uninvestigated for years. Many officials, he noted, who are subjects of criminal inquiries, have left the country and continue to live comfortably in foreign nations, free from legal consequences. This, he insisted, is unacceptable and undermines public trust.
Zelenskyy called for a renewed push to reopen and pursue high-profile cases, especially those involving substantial sums—cases “worth billions” that have remained stagnant. His message was clear: justice delayed must no longer mean justice denied.
As Ukraine continues to battle both external aggression and internal reform, Zelenskyy’s message marks a decisive step toward building a more transparent and accountable nation—one where the law is applied evenly, and no one is above it.
