Romanian President Holds Talks with Zelenskyy, Reaffirms Support for Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine

Romanian President Nicușor Dan held a detailed phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, focusing on the urgent need for a comprehensive and enduring peace in Ukraine. During the discussion, President Dan emphasized that a lasting solution is essential to end what he described as Russia’s daily acts of aggression against Ukraine.
Reiterating Romania’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, President Dan expressed full support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable resolution to the conflict. He also voiced Romania’s backing for the ongoing peace efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that any agreement must be fair, long-lasting, and grounded in mutual respect for international law.
President Dan underscored that peace should be reached through negotiations, with Ukraine itself at the center of decision-making. As both a neighbor and strategic partner, Romania pledged to stand with Ukraine in all endeavors to secure a just peace for its citizens.
Highlighting the broader security implications, the Romanian leader noted that Ukraine’s stability is closely tied to the safety of the Black Sea region and, by extension, to the security of Europe as a whole. He reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to strengthening regional stability through cooperation and mutual support.
In a gesture of solidarity, President Dan accepted President Zelenskyy’s invitation to visit Kyiv later this autumn, signaling Romania’s continued engagement and readiness to work alongside Ukraine in pursuit of peace.
The conversation reflects Romania’s proactive role in supporting Ukraine during the ongoing conflict and its belief that diplomatic solutions remain the most viable path to a secure and stable future for the region.
