Wellington, NZ — National Party leader Christopher Luxon has pledged to expand opportunities for young people in New Zealand by prioritizing economic growth and job creation.

Speaking about his long-term vision, Luxon said he wants the next generation to see their future in New Zealand rather than feeling compelled to move abroad. He stressed the importance of ensuring “more choices, better wages, and brighter prospects” for young Kiwis through a stronger economy.

According to Luxon, a key part of this strategy involves backing local businesses, encouraging investment, and opening new pathways in industries such as technology, healthcare, agriculture, and trades. By doing so, he believes New Zealand can build a more dynamic labor market that rewards skills and keeps talent within the country.

Luxon argued that creating a competitive economy is the foundation for lifting incomes and improving living standards across households. He also highlighted that reversing youth migration trends requires New Zealand to offer not just jobs but well-paying, meaningful careers.

The National leader’s comments come as cost-of-living pressures and wage concerns remain at the center of political debate. Luxon said his party’s economic agenda is designed to address these challenges, positioning growth as the engine for long-term stability and prosperity.

Reaffirming his priorities, Luxon added that young New Zealanders deserve to build their lives at home with confidence in their career prospects, financial security, and future opportunities.
