Villagers of Mendua Salempur Struggle with Severe Waterlogging, Repeated Complaints Ignored

Location – Mendua Salempur Village, Post Kanaili, District Kaushambi (U.P.)
Residents of Mendua Salempur village in Kaushambi district are facing serious problems due to continuous waterlogging and poor drainage conditions. The narrow lanes of the village have turned into muddy tracks filled with stagnant, dirty water, making daily movement extremely difficult for locals.
According to villagers, the problem has persisted for a long time, but no action has been taken by the local authorities or the village head (Gram Pradhan) despite several complaints. Even though the rainy season ended weeks ago, the accumulated water has not been drained, and the situation worsens day by day.
Many villagers have reportedly slipped and fallen due to the muddy conditions, while stagnant water has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and foul odors, raising fears of disease outbreaks. Locals say the issue is being completely ignored by the administration, even though they have repeatedly approached the concerned officials and Gram Panchayat.
A local resident said,
“We have complained to the Gram Pradhan several times, but nothing has been done. It’s becoming impossible to walk through the streets. Children and the elderly are suffering the most.”
Villagers have demanded that the administration take immediate steps to clean and repair the lanes, along with ensuring a proper drainage system to prevent future waterlogging. They have warned that if the issue continues to be neglected, they will escalate the matter to higher government authorities.
The situation in Mendua Salempur clearly reflects the negligence of the local governance system, as basic civic facilities like drainage and sanitation remain unresolved. The villagers now hope that their voices will finally be heard and prompt action will be taken to restore normal living conditions in the area.
