₹1,500 Crore LPG Subsidy Released for 1.86 Crore Ujjwala Families in Uttar Pradesh Ahead of Holi

India’s welfare framework continues to expand its outreach to vulnerable sections of society, with a focused push toward direct benefit delivery and inclusive development. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, several flagship initiatives have aimed at connecting poor households, farmers, women, and youth with government-backed social welfare schemes in a structured and transparent manner.

In this ongoing effort, a major event was organized in Lucknow to facilitate the distribution of LPG refill subsidies to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Uttar Pradesh. A total allocation of ₹1,500 crore has been released to support approximately 1.86 crore Ujjwala families across the state, ensuring timely financial assistance before the festive season.

Launched with the objective of providing deposit-free LPG connections to women from economically weaker sections, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has played a vital role in promoting clean cooking fuel across rural and low-income households. The scheme has significantly reduced dependence on traditional fuels such as firewood and coal, contributing to improved health outcomes and better living conditions, particularly for women and children.

While access to LPG connections has expanded substantially, affordability of refills remains a key concern for many families. The latest subsidy distribution addresses this challenge by directly supporting refill costs, helping beneficiaries continue using clean fuel without financial strain.
