Global population patterns are set to change dramatically by the end of this century, according to projections from the U.S. Census Bureau and the United Nations. While the world’s total population growth is expected to slow, the distribution of people across countries will look very different from today. The United States is also projected to grow modestly to 421 million, maintaining its spot among the most populated nations. Africa’s rapid growth may bring new opportunities but also challenges in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. Countries facing population declines, like China, will need to address workforce shortages and aging populations.
