Under orders signed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the BRAVO alert level applies across Poland, while a higher CHARLIE level has been introduced for selected railway infrastructure. A separate BRAVO alert also covers Polish energy infrastructure located outside the country’s territory.

Cybersecurity Alert Covers Entire Country

Poland has simultaneously introduced the BRAVO-CRP cyber-security alert nationwide.

The measure is designed to increase the readiness of government institutions and security services to respond to potential threats involving information systems and critical digital infrastructure.

Authorities describe alert levels primarily as signals that public institutions and security services should remain prepared to respond quickly if circumstances require action.

Rail Network Receives Higher Alert Level

The CHARLIE level applies specifically to railway lines managed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe and PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa.

The decision places particular attention on transportation infrastructure, reflecting the importance of protecting railway networks that are essential to Poland’s economy, mobility and national security.

Energy Infrastructure Also Under Review

Poland has also maintained an elevated BRAVO level for Polish energy infrastructure located outside the country’s borders.

The measure highlights the government’s concern about protecting strategically important energy assets and ensuring continuity of critical services.

Security Measures Begin September 1

All of the newly extended alert arrangements came into effect at 00:00 on September 1, 2026, and are scheduled to remain in force until 23:59 on November 30, 2026.

The government has not described the alert levels as an indication that an attack is occurring. Instead, they are intended to ensure that relevant authorities maintain an increased level of preparedness.

Poland Also Sees New Economic Opportunities

While security remains a major government priority, Poland is simultaneously preparing a large number of European Union-funded support programmes for businesses and regional development.

Government information published on August 31 said that 142 funding competitions would be available during September, representing billions of złoty in potential support across national, regional and Interreg programmes.

A Country Balancing Security and Growth

The latest measures demonstrate the dual priorities facing Poland: strengthening protection of critical infrastructure while continuing economic development and investment.

With railway, energy and digital systems receiving particular attention, Warsaw is signalling that national resilience extends beyond traditional military preparedness to include transportation, cybersecurity and infrastructure protection.

The elevated alert arrangements will remain in place for the next three months unless the government decides to modify them in response to changing circumstances.
