Vikarabad District Launches Anti-Drug Awareness Push Under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’

Vikarabad, June 2026 — In a continued effort to strengthen awareness against substance abuse, the District Administration of Vikarabad has launched an anti-drug awareness initiative as part of the broader Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan campaign.
As part of the programme, the District Collector unveiled a specially designed awareness poster aimed at educating the public about the harmful effects of narcotics and the importance of building a drug-free society.
Strengthening Awareness Ahead of Global Observance
The initiative has been rolled out ahead of the upcoming International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, an annual global observance that highlights the urgent need to combat drug-related challenges through prevention, education, and rehabilitation.
Officials stated that the campaign is focused on increasing public understanding of the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse, while also encouraging early intervention and community-based prevention strategies.
Focus on Community Participation
During the launch, district officials emphasized that tackling drug abuse cannot be achieved by government efforts alone. They called for active participation from multiple stakeholders, including educational institutions, parents, civil society organizations, and local communities.
Authorities highlighted that schools and colleges play a critical role in shaping awareness among young people, while families serve as the first line of support in preventing substance dependency.
Multi-Stakeholder Approach to Prevention
The campaign promotes a coordinated approach involving health services, law enforcement agencies, and community outreach programs. Officials noted that strengthening communication between these sectors is essential for identifying risk factors early and providing timely support to individuals affected by addiction.
Public awareness drives, poster campaigns, workshops, and community meetings are expected to be conducted across the district as part of the ongoing initiative.
Building a Drug-Free Society
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan aims to create long-term behavioural change by encouraging healthy lifestyles and discouraging substance use. Authorities reiterated that sustained awareness and education are key to reducing demand for narcotics and preventing illicit trafficking networks from expanding.
The slogan “Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan” reflects the broader vision of linking national development with social well-being, emphasizing that a truly developed society must be free from the impact of drug abuse.
Call for Collective Responsibility
Officials concluded that the success of such initiatives depends on collective responsibility and continuous engagement at all levels of society. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening awareness campaigns and ensuring that preventive education reaches every segment of the population.
The campaign in Vikarabad is expected to continue with a series of outreach activities aimed at promoting a safer, healthier, and drug-free environment for future generations.
