The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is deepening its role in international space partnerships as it works closely with global agencies ahead of the planned launch of Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4). The mission, led by private space company Axiom Space, is now targeting June 22, 2025, for liftoff—pending final clearances and technical confirmations.
In recent high-level discussions, ISRO collaborated with space representatives from Poland and Hungary to finalize mission parameters and timelines. This dialogue reflects an increasing trend toward multinational cooperation in human spaceflight initiatives, with ISRO stepping up as a key contributor in such global ventures.
Axiom Space has also been conducting intensive reviews with both NASA and SpaceX to evaluate mission readiness. These discussions are vital to confirming the preparedness of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft, which will transport astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).
The launch schedule remains dependent on multiple factors, including the spacecraft’s technical status, recent repairs to the Zvezda service module, optimal weather along the ascent path, and the health of the crew, who are currently under pre-mission quarantine.
The Ax-4 mission symbolizes not just another step in orbital exploration, but a strong endorsement of international scientific unity. ISRO’s involvement underscores India’s growing relevance in global space exploration efforts, as it aligns with key players to promote research and human presence in low Earth orbit.
