Celebrating Yoga: A Timeless Gift from India’s Ancient Wisdom

21 June 2025 – Lucknow, India:
As the world comes together to celebrate the 11th International Yoga Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt wishes to all yoga practitioners and emphasized the spiritual and physical significance of this ancient Indian tradition. Quoting the Sanskrit phrase “Sharīramādhyaṃ khalu dharmasādhanam,” which translates to “The body indeed is the primary instrument of dharma,” he underscored the deep-rooted value yoga holds in Indian culture.
According to Yogi Adityanath, yoga is more than just a set of exercises — it is a holistic way of life that unites the body and the mind. It is a sacred mantra passed down through India’s rishi (sage) tradition, offering a pathway not only to physical wellness but also to mental clarity and peace.
Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister acknowledged his pivotal role in globalizing yoga. It was under the Prime Minister’s leadership that June 21 was recognized as International Yoga Day by the United Nations, marking a historic moment when India’s cultural legacy received global acknowledgment. This decision enabled the entire world to connect with India’s spiritual heritage and celebrate yoga as a universal practice.
Yogi Adityanath also noted that people across the globe today take pride in embracing yoga as a lifestyle, strengthening the connection between the body, mind, and soul. The occasion reflects not just India’s pride but also humanity’s collective stride toward a healthier future.
On this International Yoga Day, millions are participating in yoga events across various regions, echoing the message of unity, health, and harmony. As India continues to lead by example, it reaffirms its status as the spiritual guide of the world.
