On 25th June, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh began his official visit to Qingdao, China, to attend the Defence Ministers’ Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). This high-level dialogue brings together defence leaders from member countries to exchange views on regional security, strategic collaboration, and future defence frameworks.

Ahead of his departure, Rajnath Singh shared that the meeting would offer an important opportunity to engage with defence counterparts on key global and regional matters. His focus will be on conveying India’s vision for peace, stability, and unified action on pressing security challenges.

A major emphasis of India’s participation will be the fight against terrorism. The Defence Minister is expected to call for united, long-term efforts to eliminate terrorism from its roots, urging nations to work beyond borders to ensure collective security.

This engagement underlines India’s growing role in international defence diplomacy and reflects its consistent commitment to a secure, cooperative, and peaceful regional order. The SCO platform is seen as vital in strengthening defence relationships, building trust, and encouraging joint initiatives.

Singh’s presence in Qingdao signals India’s proactive role in shaping security dialogues in Eurasia and beyond.
