PM Modi Unveils Ambitious Roadmap for ‘Naya Bharat’ by 2047 in Independence Day Address

New Delhi, August 15, 2025 – In a landmark Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented an expansive vision for a “Naya Bharat” (New India), setting an ambitious goal of transforming India into a developed nation by its 100th year of independence in 2047. The speech outlined sweeping reforms across the economy, technology, national security, and energy sectors, aiming to position India as a global leader in innovation and growth.
Central to the Prime Minister’s address was the theme of self-reliance. In a bold declaration, he announced plans for India to design and manufacture its own jet engines — a strategic leap in defense and aerospace capabilities. Citing India’s successful track record in developing indigenous COVID-19 vaccines and pioneering the UPI digital payments system, PM Modi called upon scientists, engineers, and young innovators to embrace this new challenge. He further revealed that India is now operating in “mission mode” to produce its first domestically manufactured semiconductor chip by year-end.
Economic empowerment, particularly for the youth, featured prominently in the address. Modi launched the ₹1 lakh crore PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, targeting employment for three crore young Indians. Under the scheme, newly employed youth will receive ₹15,000 per month. In addition, a “Reform Task Force” for a “$10 Trillion Bharat” will be established to fast-track governance reforms and prepare the economy for the demands of a $10 trillion GDP by 2047.
On national security, the Prime Minister announced the creation of a “High-Powered Demography Mission” to address the demographic imbalances caused by infiltration and illegal migration in sensitive border regions. The initiative aims to protect the country’s territorial integrity and safeguard citizens’ rights.
Energy independence was another major pillar of the speech. Modi stressed that reducing dependency on imported fuels is crucial for economic stability. To that end, he launched the “National Deepwater Exploration Mission” to harness ocean resources, alongside large-scale expansions in solar, hydrogen, hydro, and nuclear power generation. Plans include a tenfold increase in nuclear power capacity over the next two decades, with construction already underway on 10 new nuclear reactors.
The Prime Minister also announced “next-generation GST reforms” to be unveiled during Diwali, promising tax cuts on essential goods and relief for key economic sectors.
PM Modi’s address projected a confident and assertive India, ready to leverage its demographic dividend, technological innovation, and economic momentum. The initiatives mark a strategic push to make India not just self-reliant but a developed, prosperous, and secure nation by 2047.
