Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reiterated that the ultimate goal for his country and Europe is not only to end the ongoing conflict but also to achieve a durable and reliable peace. Speaking ahead of a high-level meeting with world leaders, Zelenskyy underscored that such peace cannot rely on goodwill from Moscow but must instead come through sustained and coordinated international pressure.

“We cannot expect Vladimir Putin to voluntarily abandon aggression or give up ambitions of conquest,” Zelenskyy emphasized. He insisted that the only effective path forward is through united global action. According to him, this means a collective effort by the United States, Europe, and all nations committed to defending international law and the basic right to life.

The Ukrainian leader thanked global partners who continue to work toward halting the bloodshed and paving the way for what he described as a “dignified peace.” He revealed that Ukraine, together with leaders from Finland, the United Kingdom, Italy, the European Commission, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, has coordinated positions in preparation for talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Zelenskyy made it clear that Ukraine is open to a genuine truce but also stressed the need for a broader “security architecture” that can prevent future aggression and stabilize Europe. He called this approach essential not just for Ukraine’s survival, but also for European security as a whole.

“Peace must not be temporary or fragile—it must be real, lasting, and built on justice,” he concluded.
