Cyprus Extends Fuel Tax Reduction as Government Moves to Ease Pressure on Households
The Cyprus government has extended the reduction in Special Consumption (Excise) Duty rates on fuel, continuing a measure aimed at easing the financial pressure associated with fuel costs.
The decision was approved by the Council of Ministers following a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Finance. Under the government decision, the reduced excise-duty rates will remain in force until 30 November 2026.
The extension covers the reduced rates that had already been introduced as part of the government’s measures concerning fuel taxation. The latest decision provides additional time for motorists, households and businesses to benefit from the lower rates.
The Ministry of Finance announced the extension as part of the government’s current economic measures. Fuel taxation is an important component of the final price paid by consumers, meaning changes in excise-duty rates directly affect the cost structure of petrol and other fuel products.
