America Holds a Dominant Position
The United States accounted for by far the largest number of billion-dollar companies in the ranking. Its total of 1,873 companies was more than four times Japan’s figure of 404.
The scale of the U.S. lead reflects the country’s enormous corporate market, deep investment ecosystem and strong presence across technology, finance, healthcare, consumer industries and other sectors.
Japan occupied second place with 404 companies, while India ranked third with 348.
India Emerges as a Major Corporate Power
India’s position in third place is one of the most notable aspects of the 2025 ranking. With 348 billion-dollar companies, India stood ahead of Canada, the United Kingdom and China.
Canada recorded 228 companies, followed by the UK with 218 and China with 216. The figures place India firmly among the world’s leading countries for companies reaching billion-dollar valuations.
The result also points to the increasing importance of India’s private-sector economy and its expanding pool of large businesses.
Europe Remains Strong
