Boudh, Odisha, September 25, 2026: A large-scale plantation campaign has been carried out across Boudh district as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, with 48,300 saplings planted across the district to promote environmental conservation and increase green cover.

The campaign was organised in connection with the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and covered all three blocks of Boudh district. The initiative sought to combine environmental protection with a message of respect and gratitude towards mothers.

Plantation Across Three Blocks

According to the district-level programme details, 16,000 saplings were planted across 22 Gram Panchayats in Boudh Block.

In Harabhanga Block, another 15,400 saplings were planted across 22 Gram Panchayats. Kantamal Block recorded the highest number, with 16,800 saplings planted across 24 Gram Panchayats.

The combined plantation figure from the three blocks stood at 48,300 saplings.

Collector Reviews Plantation Activities

The district administration and Panchayati Raj Department made arrangements for implementing the plantation programme and monitoring activities at different locations.

Boudh Collector Bibhuti Bhushan Nayak visited several plantation sites on Thursday to review preparations and assess the progress of the campaign.

Officials and field-level teams were involved in coordinating the plantation activities across the Gram Panchayats.

Community Participation Strengthens Campaign

The plantation drive witnessed participation from public representatives, government officials, employees, women associated with Self-Help Groups, volunteers and members of voluntary organisations.

Chief Development Officer Prabhas Chandra Dandasana, Sub-Collector Binay Kumar Bhoi, Boudh BDO Jugal Kishore Biswal, Harabhanga BDO Karna Suna and Kantamal BDO Samireddy Jayshree were among those associated with the programme.

Block-level chairpersons, Sarpanches and other elected representatives also participated in the initiative.

Campaign Links Environmental Protection With Family Values

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign encourages people to plant and care for trees in the name of their mothers. Beyond increasing tree cover, the initiative seeks to create an emotional connection between environmental responsibility and family values.

The Boudh district administration has been encouraging residents and community organisations to participate not only in plantation activities but also in the continued care and protection of the saplings.

Officials are seeking to turn the campaign into a broader community movement so that the newly planted trees receive regular attention and survive over the long term.

The initiative combines public participation, environmental awareness and community responsibility, with the wider objective of contributing to a greener and more sustainable Boudh district.
