Two-Year-Old Girl Rescued in Dramatic Police Operation; 72-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Abduction

In a swift and effective police operation, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl who had gone missing from near Jama Masjid metro station on the evening of June 23 was safely recovered and reunited with her family. The Central District team of Delhi Police led the operation and apprehended a 72-year-old woman named Hasina in connection with the kidnapping.
The incident took place when the child was playing near Gate No. 1 of the Jama Masjid Metro Station. Despite immediate efforts by her family and local residents to locate her, the girl remained missing. Suspecting abduction, her parents approached the nearby police station, prompting a high-priority investigation.
The Jama Masjid police team swiftly reviewed surveillance footage from the area. CCTV visuals revealed a woman taking the child into the metro station and boarding a train from Jama Masjid to Uttam Nagar East. The breakthrough came when further footage from the Uttam Nagar area revealed the woman’s movements, leading the police to JJ Colony in Hastsal, Uttam Nagar. There, the child was found in Hasina’s custody and safely rescued. The accused was arrested on the spot.
In a separate case also dated June 23, the Delhi High Court granted interim protection from arrest to Bhabani Chib, a CRPF personnel accused of kidnapping a man. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora instructed Chib to join the investigation and cooperate fully. He has been summoned to appear before the Investigating Officer on June 24, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The complaint was lodged by the alleged victim’s wife at the Saket police station. The court has also asked Delhi Police to submit a detailed status report before the next hearing scheduled for July 3, 2025.
