Bhutan Opens Environmental and Social Assessment for Major Infrastructure Project
Bhutan’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has opened the draft Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for public disclosure as part of the country’s ongoing infrastructure development process.
The ministry published the announcement as part of its official project-related information and consultation activities. The disclosure provides an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to examine the environmental and social aspects of the proposed infrastructure work.
Environmental and Social Impact Assessments are used to identify potential effects that development projects can have on communities, land, natural resources and the surrounding environment. Such assessments also establish measures for managing identified impacts during project implementation.
