The Rajasthan Government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety by directing officials to adopt a stricter and more proactive approach to crime prevention and law enforcement. During a high-level review meeting of the Home Department held at the State Secretariat in Jaipur, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas emphasized that the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward crime must be implemented with complete sincerity, ensuring swift action against offenders and stronger coordination among administrative and police authorities.

The meeting focused on enhancing the effectiveness of policing, improving crime control mechanisms, and creating a safer environment for citizens. Senior officials reviewed existing strategies while outlining new measures to strengthen law and order across all districts.

Zero Tolerance Against Criminal Activities

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary stated that the government remains committed to taking firm action against criminals without exception. He instructed district administrations and police authorities to ensure that no criminal receives protection or undue influence at any level. Any instance of collusion or negligence involving officials would also be dealt with strictly under the government’s zero-tolerance approach.

Officials were directed to ensure that every crime is investigated promptly and that action against offenders is proportionate to the seriousness of the offence. Special attention will be given to identifying organized crime hotspots and conducting targeted enforcement drives to dismantle criminal networks operating in vulnerable areas.

Stronger Coordination Between Civil Administration and Police

To improve governance and ensure quicker resolution of law-and-order issues, all District Collectors and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to hold monthly district-level review meetings. These meetings will facilitate better coordination between civil administration and police departments, allowing complex issues to be addressed more efficiently.

Senior officials stressed that close cooperation between various government agencies is essential for maintaining peace, preventing crime, and responding effectively to emerging security challenges.

Proactive Policing Instead of Reactive Policing

Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma emphasized that modern policing should focus on preventing crime rather than merely responding after offences occur. He urged police officers to adopt intelligence-based policing, continuous surveillance, and preventive strategies to identify potential threats before they escalate.

District police chiefs in areas experiencing higher crime rates were instructed to personally monitor law-and-order situations and supervise investigations to ensure effective policing on the ground.

Regular Field Visits by Senior Officers

Recognizing the importance of leadership at the operational level, the Chief Secretary directed senior police officials, including Inspectors General and Superintendents of Police, to conduct frequent field visits.

Regular interaction with local officers and communities is expected to improve supervision, strengthen accountability, and enable quicker responses to public concerns. The government believes that visible leadership enhances both public confidence and police effectiveness.

Crackdown on Illegal Mining

Illegal mining remains a significant concern in several parts of Rajasthan. Officials were instructed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and intensify enforcement operations against unauthorized mining activities.

District-wise reports analysing increases and decreases in crime trends, including illegal mining-related offences, will now be submitted every fifteen days to enable continuous evaluation and timely policy interventions.

Combating Organized Crime and Local Mafia Networks

Police authorities were also instructed to prevent local criminal groups from exerting pressure on industrial establishments and businesses. Surveillance of areas vulnerable to organized crime will be strengthened, while intelligence gathering and targeted operations will focus on dismantling criminal syndicates involved in extortion and illegal activities.

Authorities emphasized that maintaining a secure environment for industries is essential for economic development and investor confidence.

Intensified Action Against Drug-Related Crimes

The Director General of Police directed officers to increase both the quantity and quality of enforcement actions against narcotics-related crimes.

Police departments have been instructed not only to seize illegal substances but also to identify and dismantle the supply chains, trafficking networks, and financial structures supporting drug-related criminal activities.

Women’s Safety and Child Protection

Recognizing the importance of protecting vulnerable groups, the meeting placed strong emphasis on preventing crimes against women and children.

District administrations have been directed to organize weekly public awareness programmes focusing on women’s safety and child protection. In addition, self-defence training initiatives for women will be expanded to promote confidence and personal security.

Officials believe that community awareness, education, and preventive measures are essential complements to law enforcement.

Strengthening Cybercrime Prevention

With cybercrime becoming increasingly sophisticated, Rajasthan Police will intensify public awareness campaigns explaining common online frauds, digital scams, identity theft, and cyber security practices.

Authorities have also been instructed to establish stronger daily monitoring systems capable of detecting cyber threats quickly while improving investigative capabilities for digital crimes.

Monitoring Social Media to Prevent Rumours

The government has directed law enforcement agencies to maintain continuous surveillance of social media platforms to identify misinformation, rumours, and content that could disturb communal harmony or public order.

Officials were instructed to take prompt legal action against individuals found deliberately spreading false information or attempting to incite social unrest through digital platforms. At the same time, authorities stressed the importance of monitoring social media responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws.

Action Against Illegal Encroachments

Police officials have also been instructed to identify illegal encroachments created by criminal elements and initiate lawful demolition or removal proceedings wherever required.

The effectiveness of district-level security checkpoints and road barricading systems will be reviewed regularly to improve crime detection and strengthen border surveillance between districts.

Maintaining Social Harmony

Recognizing the importance of communal peace, police departments in districts vulnerable to caste or community tensions have been directed to exercise additional vigilance.

Officials will prepare lists of individuals known for attempting to create social discord while simultaneously identifying respected community leaders who promote harmony. Regular dialogue with religious leaders, social organizations, and civil society representatives will be encouraged to resolve tensions before they escalate.

A Comprehensive Approach to Public Safety

The review meeting demonstrated Rajasthan’s broader strategy of combining strict law enforcement with preventive policing, community engagement, technological monitoring, and administrative coordination. By strengthening field supervision, improving intelligence gathering, expanding cybercrime prevention, enhancing women’s safety programmes, and promoting social harmony, the government aims to create a safer and more secure environment across the state.

As Rajasthan continues implementing its zero-tolerance policy, officials hope that proactive policing, stronger institutional accountability, and closer cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies will contribute to reducing crime, protecting vulnerable communities, and maintaining lasting peace and public confidence throughout the state.
