UGC-NET June 2026 Results Announced for 84 Subjects; Over 1.47 Lakh Candidates Qualify
New Delhi, August 29, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination for 84 subjects, bringing relief to a large number of candidates who had been waiting for their qualification status for academic and research opportunities.
Candidates who appeared for the examinations covered by the result can now access their scorecards through the official UGC-NET portal. The examination is used to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions and PhD admission, depending on the qualification category achieved by a candidate.
More Than Seven Lakh Candidates Registered
According to the examination data, 7,73,806 candidates registered for the examinations covered by the results, while 6,07,151 candidates appeared.
The examination was conducted in Computer-Based Test mode at 655 centres across 286 cities. The original examination schedule covered 87 subjects, but results have currently been released for 84 subjects.
Over 1.47 Lakh Candidates Qualify
The NTA’s result data shows that 1,47,579 candidates qualified across the three qualification categories.
A total of 4,241 candidates qualified for both JRF and Assistant Professor eligibility. Another 45,904 candidates qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admission, while 97,434 candidates qualified under the PhD-only category.
These categories are important because qualification in UGC-NET does not provide identical opportunities to every successful candidate. The benefits available to an individual depend on the category under which the candidate qualifies.
Three Subjects to Have Fresh Examinations
The results have not been released for candidates who appeared for English, Commerce and Sociology.
The NTA has scheduled fresh examinations for these three subjects after issues were identified with the original papers. The re-examinations are scheduled for September 9 and 10, 2026.
The NTA has also clarified that candidates from these subjects may encounter an “Invalid Application Number/Password” message when attempting to access their scorecards before the fresh examination. The message does not indicate that their applications have been cancelled. Their scorecards will be made available after the re-examinations and subsequent evaluation.
Final Answer Keys Released
Before declaring the results, the NTA completed the process of reviewing challenges submitted against the provisional answer keys.
The official UGC-NET portal now lists the final answer keys for the 84 subjects along with the result-related notices and category-wise cut-off information.

Candidates whose subjects are included in the current result can visit the official UGC-NET website and log in using their examination credentials.
After opening the result section, candidates can enter the required details to view their scorecard. They should download and preserve a copy for future academic, recruitment or admission-related requirements.
