A Florida International University police motorman was hospitalized Friday after being injured in a traffic crash in Miami-Dade County.

The incident occurred along U.S. Route 27 near Frontage Road in the Hialeah Gardens area. Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported the injured officer to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital for treatment.

Officials said the officer suffered an injury to his leg. He remained alert when he arrived at the hospital, where emergency personnel continued to provide medical care.

The crash also affected traffic in the area as authorities temporarily restricted southbound movement to allow emergency responders to reach the scene and transport the injured officer safely.
