Nepal Police Arrest Fugitive Serving a 10-Year Sentence in Rape Case
Parsa, Nepal, September 7, 2026: Police in Nepal have arrested a fugitive who had been sentenced to 10 years in prison in a rape case, bringing the long-running search for the convicted man to an end.

The suspect, identified as Akhilesh Sah Teli of Parsa, was taken into custody by police in Parsa after authorities tracked him down while he was evading the sentence imposed by a court.
According to Nepal Police, Teli had already been convicted in the rape case and sentenced to a decade behind bars. Despite the court’s decision, he had remained outside custody and was being sought as a fugitive.
Police personnel launched efforts to locate him after confirming his status as an absconding convict. Officers eventually succeeded in arresting him in Parsa and began the process of handing him over to the appropriate authorities for implementation of the court’s sentence.
The arrest is significant because fugitives who evade prison sentences can remain difficult to locate, particularly when they move between communities or attempt to avoid contact with law-enforcement agencies.
Authorities did not immediately provide extensive details about when Teli began evading custody or where he had been hiding before his arrest.
Following the arrest, the suspect is expected to be taken through the required legal and prison procedures so that the sentence imposed by the court can be enforced.
Nepal Police continue to conduct searches for people wanted in serious criminal cases, particularly those who have already been convicted but remain outside custody.
The arrest was reported by Nepal News on September 7, 2026, which identified Teli as a fugitive defendant from Parsa who had been sentenced to 10 years in prison in a rape case.
