Police Investigate Alleged Rough Treatment of Two-Year-Old Girl at Malaysian Nursery
MENTAKAB, MALAYSIA: Police in Malaysia have opened an investigation after a video circulating on social media allegedly showed a childcare worker treating a two-year-old girl roughly at a nursery in the Mentakab area of Temerloh.

The case came to police attention after footage related to the alleged incident began circulating online. The child’s 29-year-old mother subsequently lodged a report with authorities, prompting investigators to begin examining what happened at the childcare facility.
According to police, the mother had sent her young daughter to the nursery before becoming concerned about the treatment the child allegedly received while under the care of a worker. Authorities are now seeking to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any offence was committed.
The alleged incident has attracted public attention because of the age of the child and the responsibility entrusted to childcare workers to protect young children while they are away from their parents.
Police are investigating the case under Malaysia’s Child Act 2001. The legislation provides penalties for individuals found guilty of offences involving the mistreatment or abuse of children.
Investigators are expected to examine the video footage, obtain statements from the child’s family and other relevant individuals, and establish whether the material circulating online accurately represents the circumstances of the incident.
Authorities will also need to determine who was present at the nursery when the alleged treatment occurred and whether there were any previous complaints concerning the facility or individuals working there.
The investigation comes as social media continues to play an important role in bringing alleged incidents involving children to public attention. However, police investigations remain necessary to establish the facts and determine responsibility through evidence rather than online claims alone.
The child’s condition and welfare are also expected to remain a central concern as authorities proceed with the investigation.
Police have not announced any final finding against the childcare worker, and the allegations have yet to be established through the legal process. Further action will depend on evidence gathered during the investigation.
If investigators establish sufficient evidence, the case could be referred to prosecutors for further legal consideration.
The incident has also renewed attention on safety standards at childcare centres and the importance of effective supervision. Parents generally rely on nursery staff to provide a secure environment for young children, making allegations of mistreatment particularly serious.
Authorities are continuing their inquiries as they work to establish exactly what occurred and whether anyone should face legal consequences.
