Russian Drone Strike Injures Five in Odesa as Residential Areas Are Damaged
At least five people were injured after a Russian drone attack struck the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Sunday, according to local officials.

The attack damaged residential areas in several parts of the city, prompting authorities to assess the extent of the destruction and respond to the affected locations. Officials said emergency teams were working in the aftermath of the strikes as details of the damage continued to emerge.
The latest assault came only a day after another attack on Odesa caused significant casualties. A residential apartment building was hit, leaving two people dead and 26 others injured, according to Ukrainian officials. The repeated attacks have added to concerns among residents as Russian aerial strikes continue to target southern Ukraine.
Odesa is particularly important to Ukraine because it is home to the country’s principal port hub. The city’s maritime infrastructure plays a major role in the movement of Ukrainian exports, making the region strategically significant amid the ongoing war.
Ukrainian officials have reported that Russian missile and drone attacks have increasingly affected residential districts as well as infrastructure and economic facilities. Other parts of Ukraine were also targeted overnight and into Sunday morning, although officials in those areas initially reported no civilian casualties from some of the attacks.
The continuing strikes have placed additional pressure on emergency services and local authorities, who must respond simultaneously to damage in multiple regions. In Odesa, officials are expected to provide further information as inspections of damaged buildings and infrastructure continue.
The latest attack underscores the continuing danger faced by civilians in Odesa, a major Black Sea city that has repeatedly come under Russian aerial attack during the war.
