Severe Weather Leaves Tens of Thousands Without Power Across Sydney
A powerful burst of severe weather has disrupted communities across Sydney and surrounding areas, leaving tens of thousands of electricity customers without power as damaging winds swept through the region on Saturday.
More than 50,000 customers were without electricity during the afternoon, with utility crews working to repair damaged infrastructure and restore services. Additional outages were also reported across several Sydney suburbs.
The weather system brought strong winds and unusually warm conditions, with temperatures reaching around 33°C in parts of the city. Authorities warned that damaging wind gusts could reach about 90 km/h in western areas.

Utility companies deployed additional crews to speed up restoration work. However, officials warned that some households could remain without electricity into the night or the following morning.
