Seoul, September 1, 2026: South Korea’s presidential office has announced a significant government leadership reshuffle, with six senior ministerial nominees selected alongside new appointments aimed at strengthening the country’s artificial-intelligence strategy.
The announcement, issued by the presidential office on August 30, includes nominees for the positions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy, Minister of Justice, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Minister of SMEs and Startups.

Alongside the ministerial nominations, the government announced the nomination of a vice chairperson for the National AI Strategy Committee.
The presidential office also announced plans for an AI Future Planning Senior Secretary within the presidential office and a proposed position connected with a future “mega-project” initiative.
