Two Men Arrested After Suspected Gun Attack Injures Man in Leeds
Leeds, United Kingdom, Two men have been arrested in Leeds following a reported shooting that left a man in his 20s with injuries to both arms, according to West Yorkshire Police.
Police received a report at approximately 10:11 p.m. after the injured man arrived at a hospital with wounds believed to be consistent with gunfire. Authorities said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Following initial inquiries, detectives identified Cambrian Street in the Holbeck area of Leeds as the location where the incident is believed to have occurred. Officers subsequently established a crime scene and began examining the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting.
Two men, both aged 26, were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They remained in police custody while investigators continued their inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Bates of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team said police understood the concern that a firearm incident could cause among residents. He said additional police activity could be expected in the area while detectives worked to establish what had happened and identify everyone involved.
Investigators are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed unusual activity around Cambrian Street at the time of the incident. Police are particularly interested in information about people, vehicles or other activity that could help establish the sequence of events.
Authorities have also encouraged anyone who may have relevant information but does not wish to speak directly to police to provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers.
The investigation remains active, and police have not released further details about a possible motive or the circumstances that led to the reported firearm discharge.
The arrests represent an early stage of the investigation. Being arrested or suspected of an offence does not establish guilt, and any suspects are entitled to due process through the UK justice system.
West Yorkshire Police said its investigation would continue as detectives work to determine exactly what happened and whether additional people were involved.
