Heavy Rain Causes Widespread Waterlogging Across Gurgaon
Heavy rainfall triggered widespread waterlogging across Gurgaon on Saturday, disrupting traffic and prompting authorities to advise residents to avoid unnecessary travel through affected areas.

Several parts of the city experienced significant water accumulation after an intense spell of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Major stretches around DLF-2, IFFCO Chowk, Sector 28, Udyog Vihar and Civil Lines were among the areas affected, with vehicles moving slowly through standing water.
The Gurgaon administration warned residents to stay away from waterlogged roads, underpasses and low-lying areas because the actual depth of floodwater may be difficult to judge. Officials also cautioned people against approaching trees, electricity poles and overhead cables during periods of strong winds.
The weather disruption followed several hours of rainfall across the Delhi-NCR region. According to rainfall measurements for Friday, Wazirabad recorded 39 mm, while Gurgaon received 36 mm between the morning and late afternoon. Several other parts of the district also recorded substantial rainfall.
Authorities expect more rain in the city, with the possibility of heavy showers in some locations. This means waterlogging could return quickly, particularly on roads where drainage systems struggle to handle short bursts of intense rainfall.
Traffic conditions may also remain challenging as commuters deal with flooded stretches and reduced visibility. Residents have been encouraged to check local advisories before beginning journeys and avoid routes known to be vulnerable to water accumulation.
The latest weather episode has once again highlighted drainage and urban infrastructure challenges in rapidly developing parts of Gurgaon. Short periods of intense rainfall can create major disruptions even when the total duration of the rain is relatively brief.
With additional showers possible, residents and motorists are being urged to remain cautious and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
