Romanshorn, Switzerland: Police in the Swiss canton of Thurgau have arrested a 43-year-old man after he was allegedly found searching through a sailboat at the municipal harbor in Romanshorn.

Police received an emergency call at around 11:40 p.m. reporting that a man was apparently going through a sailboat at the harbor. Officers were dispatched to the location and found the suspect near the vessel shortly afterward.

The man, identified by police as a 43-year-old Algerian national, was taken into custody and subsequently detained while authorities investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Investigators are now examining whether the man may have been involved in other offences. Police have not yet disclosed whether anything was stolen from the boat or whether the suspect was carrying property believed to belong to someone else.

The incident highlights the importance of rapid reporting by residents and boat owners when suspicious activity is noticed around harbors and other privately owned property. In this case, the police response followed a direct report from someone who noticed the unusual activity.

The investigation is being conducted by the Thurgau Cantonal Police, while authorities continue determining the exact circumstances and whether additional charges may follow.
