The Joint Committee for Selecting Candidates for Officer and Other Ranks in Military Entities is working to attract qualified Qatari women and provide them with access to military and security education and training. The initiative was reported on September

One of the programmes is a Technical Institute Diploma offered by Qatar’s Ministry of Defence in cooperation with the University of Doha for Science and Technology. The programme combines academic study, practical training and military discipline.

The technical programme is designed to prepare women for specialised fields required by Qatar’s armed forces. It is also accredited by the country’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education, giving participants a structured academic pathway alongside their military preparation.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior is also offering a two-year Police Sciences Diploma. The course is intended to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required for professional work in policing and security.

Officials say the programmes reflect an effort to invest in the training and development of talented Qatari women while creating specialised career opportunities that correspond to the needs of military and security institutions.

The selection committee is also working to establish common admission procedures based on transparent criteria. The objective is to create a unified process for identifying and selecting qualified candidates.

The initiative could gradually increase the presence of Qatari women across technical, military and security roles. By combining formal education with practical and professional training, Qatar is creating a more structured route into sectors traditionally dominated by men.

The latest move represents another step in the country’s efforts to develop national talent and broaden professional opportunities for Qatari women while meeting the specialised workforce requirements of its defence and security institutions.
